2/1/2012 - In an effort to keep registration fees affordable and continue to provide scholarship support for needy families, the Fairfax Stars are launching their 2011 - 2012 Fundraising Campaign.
When the Fairfax Stars basketball program was started in 1997, one of the original premises was to work hard every season to do our best to make sure that no player or family was not able to participate in AAU / Travel basketball due to financial considerations. Accordingly, the program leadership and Board of Directors endeavors to maintain registration fees at an affordable level.
Confronted with increasing costs for gymnasiusm space, uniforms & equipment, insurance, and administrative costs, the Fairfax Stars annually conduct a fundraising campaign to help support the financial requirements of operating the program on behalf of young people in our community. Additionally, the Fairfax Stars host an annual golf tournament, with all proceeds dedicated to the Fairfax Stars Scholarship Fund.
It is important to note that the Fairfax Stars are a completely volunteer, community-based, non-profit organization. All coaches, assistant coaches, commissioners, executive director, and board of directors are volunteers. The program is supported by one part-time executive administrative assistant who does an amazing job in support of the volunteer executive director, who is also the program founder. With more than 30 teams each season, skill develop leagues, camps & clinics, a summer league, a fall league, a winter league, and many other events and activities in support of the program, you can only imagine the day to day demands of operating a nationally recognized program for girls and boys.
We have enjoyed the support of many Fairfax Stars alumni and family members, who generously support providing opportunities for more young people. We have also been fortunate enough to enjoy a number of community corporate sponsorships over the years. If you are able to assist, please visit http://www.fairfaxstars.org/shopsite_sc/ and click on the link for the 2011 - 2012 Fundraising Campaign to identify your level of support. Your contribution is tax deductible.
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity. You will receive a follow up with pertinent tax information for your records. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Fairfax Stars via e-mail at fairfaxstars@aol.com |
