Katie McCormick Announces Verbal Commitment to Play College Basketball for Georgetown University
Congratulations to long-time Fairfax Star and St Marys Ryken High School junior Katie McCormick as she announced her decision to verbally commit to continue her education and play college basketball for nationally ranked Georgetown University.
Katie is a strong and versatile guard who is a threat to score from the perimeter or attacking the basket off the dribble. She is a tenacious defender who also rebounds well from the wing and has a nose for the basketball. She has just recently been named to the 2011 All WCAC 1st team.
Katie has played for the Fairfax Stars throughout her AAU / Travel basketball career. She helped the U15 Girls Premier Showcase team win the Silver Bracket championship at the 2010 U. S. Junior Nationals last July.
She is also another example of an outstanding student-athlete, as Katie is a tremendous achiever in the classroom. She embodies the goal of the Fairfax Stars to "strive for excellence...both on and off the court!" She is also a great teammate as she appreciates and supports the players around her and provides leadership through her own hard work and passion on the court.
Congratulations to Katie and her family on achieving this important milestone in her career as a student-athlete.
