
Coach: Mike Weber
Michael (Mike) Weber is the assistant coach for the varsity girls basketball at Edison High School. . He formally coached at Thomas Jefferson HS for Science and Technology from 2001-2008 and for one season at West Potomac during 2008-2009 season .
Coach Weber was born and raised in Washington, DC. He graduated from the now defunct Mackin Catholic HS (merged with Archbishop Carroll in 1990) and a graduate of the University of Maryland-College Park. Coach Weber began his coaching career at Archbishop Carroll HS (WCAC) He remained in those positions until leaving the program in 2000.
Coach Weber’s philosophy is that if you want to be the best that you can be you have to put in the “hard work” to achieve your best, it’s just not given to a student-athlete. Coach Weber has also coached AAU for 10 years and has worked with and coached numerous players that have gone on to play collegially and professionally . He has coached in various age groups from 11 to 16 in AAU Basketball programs within the Washington Metropolitan area.

The Fairfax Stars U-12 Girls Black opened up the season at the March Madness Tournament in the District Heights. The team quickly began developing new team chemistry and rallied from an early deficit to lose a close game to an experienced Maryland Flames team. The Stars next put up a good showing playing up against the U-13 Team Sol and ended the weekend on a winning note with a victory over Maryland Lady Tigers.
The next weekend the Stars were at Archbishop Carroll High School in the 1st Annual Kick-Off Classic Tournament and posted convincing wins over Matrix Green, Maryland United Lady Ballers, and Team Sol to cap the weekend 3-0. Next up was the prestigious Fairfax Stars Think Pink 2011 Tournament of Champions. The Stars opened up with a nip and tick ball game before falling by 3 points to Comets, a perennially strong team from the Philadelphia region .The Stars rebounded posting solid wins over the Boo Williams Black Widows, Matrix Green and the Comets Red, before ending the weekend with a loss to a solid Matrix Black Team.
The Stars then traveled to Mt. Vernon to play in the Cardinal Tournament. The Stars lost a close game to the host Cardinals, and defeated a game Fencor team and the Cardinals Red team to close out the weekend on a high note.
The team capped off a busy April schedule finishing second at the Richmond Hoopfest held at the Siegel Center on the campus of VCU. The Stars went 3-0 in pool play posting impressive wins over the Chesterfield Aces, Spotsylvania Sting, and No Limit before dropping the final game to the Boo Williams Red Tide. |
