Assistant Coach: Larry Garland
Lyle Wright is from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has been involved in athletics all of his life. He enjoys seeing people achieve their personal goals by adopting his three major beliefs, which are fundamentals, persistence, and teamwork. This will be his 3rd year with the Fairfax Stars and his 10th year of coaching. His reason for coaching is to spread his love of the game and to see individuals succeed through education and athletics.
He currently works for a private software company as a Solutions Engineer. He also is working towards a degree in Computer Information Science from Nova Southeastern University. Lyle enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, mentoring and researching new technology. Coach Wright is always taking the opportunity to increase his knowledge on how to become a better coach and person.
Larry Garland is a Northern Virginia native, who graduated from Lane College, Jackson TN with Criminal Justice/ Computer Science Degree. Larry now works as a contractor for the Dept of Justice. Larry graduated from Chantilly High School in 1999 where he where he played varsity basketball for 3 years.
This will be Larry’s 2nd year coaching with the Fairfax stars and, but has been playing basketball all his life and has a genuine love for the game. He currently plays in several men’s leagues in the area. He stresses the belief of solid fundamentals, hustle, teamwork, defense and sportsmanship. Off the court Larry enjoys raising his 5-year-old daughter, spending time with family and friends and is very active in community service in the DC Metro area. Larry’s biggest attribute is being a student of the game. Larry is always watching and discussing different strategies and game situations with friends and colleges.

12U Fairfax Stars Boys Make it to the Championship Game in the last 3 June Tournaments, winning the championship at the June 25, 26 BRYC Tournament of Champions
The U12 team led by Head Coach Lyle Wright and Assistant Coach Larry Garland continued to improve their game during the month of June. The 12U Stars made it to the championship game in the FYBA One Day Bump Tournament on June 11th. They played well against a much taller Maryland Tigers team ending up in second place.
During the weekend of June 18th and 19th, the 12U Stars went 2-1 in pool play and made it to the Championship game against the Cardinals at the NOVA Sun tournament in Ashburn, VA.
Finally, the 12U Fairfax Stars went 4-0 at the BRYC Tournament of Champions, winning the championship game against the 11U Team Takeover.

12U Boys Post Record of 2-1 at the Mountaineer Monster Challenge (March 26 and 27, 2011)
The 12U Stars played three very close games at the West Virginia Mountaineer Monster Challenge, emerging with a very respectable 2-1 record, losing the last game by only 2 points in the last few seconds. First, the Stars beat the home team, the West Virginia Stars 37-33. Next, they beat the Winchester Stars 33-31 in a very exciting double overtime battle. The next day found them matched up again with the West Virginia Stars. They lost this game 29-31.

12U Boys Finish 2nd in the Division 1 Fairfax Stars EAST COAST BATTLE OF THE BEST (March 19 and 20, 2011)
The 12U team led by Head Coach Lyle Wright and Assistant Coach Larry Garland won the first three games of the tournament to obtain a spot in the Championship Game. In the first game of the tournament, the 12U Stars won a close game vs. the Warrenton Wizards 43-42. They then went on to defeat the Arlington Thunder 51-42 later that same night. The next day the 12U Stars faced the Warrenton Wizards again and again defeated them 60-54 in another close game.
In the championship game, the 12U Stars put forth a good effort, but were not able to overcome the Loudoun Xtreme. The final score was 53-42.
